Lorraine Meade realized her passion for mosaics during a class several years ago. Her mosaic pieces are on display at Art Works Studios & Galleries in the Old Manchester District of Richmond. This working studio shows many items Lorraine collects for her projects...Scrabble tiles, Dominoes, shells, keys, cans, buttons, dishes, and lots of glass, porcelain and ceramic tiles...all to someday be made into a variety of mosaic furniture, accessories and installations.
Lorraine has also done mosaic work on a larger scale with commercial and residential installations. In addition to kitchen and bathroom projects, she designed and installed a mosaic entryway at Parkview at Fountain Lake Condominiums in Byrd Park in Richmond. She also designed and installed a 40-foot long mosaic “wave” at the University of Richmond’s Hemisphere’s Mongolian Grill at the Heilman Dining Center. This installation was featured in the July 2007 issue of Richmond Magazine. Her mosaic work was also mentioned in the September 2007 issue of Southern Living in an article featuring Art Works.
Lorraine has donated her artwork to various non-profits, including Children’s Miracle Network, Richmond Men’s Chorus, Caring Voice Coalition and Easter Seals.
A native of Rochester, New York, Lorraine works as a graphic designer when she’s not creating in her studio. She is a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists, Metropolitan Richmond Artists Association, Bon Air Artists Association and is the organizer of the Richmond Scrabble Meetup Group.
