Lou Ann grew up in rural Ohio with a deep love of nature. Her God given gift of creativity shined from an early age. By high school she received local, state and national awards, and was featured in a national series; 'Art by Talented Teenagers'. She has taken courses and workshops but considers her distinctive style basically self taught. Her acrylic landscapes lean toward realism, with bold use of color and brush strokes to capture the mood of a particular scene. She loves painting woods, waterfalls, mountains, gardens, ancient buildings, ruins and images along the Mediterranean. 'I love the traditional landscapes and Old World images, they're classic and timeless, and will never go out of style. They convey a sense of awe and adventure that moves us to wonder ; 'If only the trees could whisper, or if the ruins could speak; what a tale they would tell'.
Her inspiration comes from extensive travels around the world. She lived in Turkey several years, where she began devoting more time to art. She currently lives in Sarasota, Florida most of the year, which has obviously inspired her bright, tropical landscapes. She has participated in numerous group shows in the area, with Art Target, Visual Arts Center, Rosemary Court, Art & Frame and The Art Experience. Recently she has received several 1st Place and People's Choice awards at the Art Experience. Her work is currently featured at Melange Gallery, in Venice, and Muse Galleria, and Covenant Life in Sarasota. Her art has shown in galleries, juried shows, fairs and businesses all over the United States. Her works are owned by individuals all over the world.
Presently Lou Ann considers her art career a journey in progress. She has recently discovered a new found creative joy pursuing the ancient art of mosaics. Her primary vocation is as a nurse caring for children with severe disabilities, and if possible she tries to help them be creative. She also enjoys volunteer ministry work overseas, and has recently authored photo-journalistic books on her adventures in Turkey and in China. Blessing others with art, music, and creativity is a way of life. She delights in ďArt as a spiritual expression in reflecting the wonders of nature; the Creations of the Divine Artist, God Himself, Who is the Source of all beauty and inspiration.'
