I have lived many places and visited many more. Then in 1999, I came 'home' to the Columbia River Gorge on the Oregon/Washington border and put down roots. I studied art in college, but then worked in technical fields for years. The creative spirit re-emerged just after 9/11/2001 (a reminder that “life is short”) and my passion for making art has taken over. I now paint full-time, exploring the various mediums, doing commission work, and teaching workshops.
I work in watercolor, pastel, acrylic and oil. I strive to transcend realism to bring out motion, emotion and beauty. I paint “en plein air” landscapes in oil and pastel and my studio work includes portraits, athletes-in-action, and meditative landscapes from memory.
I believe “Art is from the Heart” and that we are all artists! Those of us lucky enough to be good listeners, good observers, interested and patient enough to study nature or people or whatever are the “interpreters” of the special beauty around us and this is what we strive to capture on canvas. My job is to create a place I want to be or a feeling I want to remember and showing my art lets me share that with others. I feel very lucky!
