Marcella Nordbeck - Fine Artist
Marcella Nordbeck is an artist and writer living and creating along the Colorado front range. In 1996 she received her BA in English from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. Later, she studied the use of acrylic paint and mediums with Detroit artist Shadia Zayed. She is inspired by nature, traveling, and the visions and sensations she experiences while in mediation.
Marcella’s work has been seen in numerous group and solo exhibitions and can be found in public and private art collections throughout the United States. Her most recent solo exhibition was hosted at the MacSpa in Denver. A recent group exhibition includes the self-curated It’s Not Black and White at the Miners Alley Playhouse in Golden, Colorado. This juried show hung during the 6-week run of the Tony award winning play, “ART.”
Marcella’s essay, “I Find Myself Painting,” was published in 2010 in the anthology 'Speaking Your Truth: Courageous Stories from Inspiring Women.' Also in 2010, Marcella was a weekly guest blogger for New York publishing giant Tarcher/Penguin.
In between teaching watercolor at a retirement community and live painting, Marcella is working on a new series of mixed media abstract paintings and writing a memoir/self-help book to inspire others to follow their dreams. She also serves as a judge and assistant curator for the Fine Arts Ministry at Mile Hi Church in Lakewood, Colorado.
