As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn with large, generous form. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plaine aire, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the overall composition and formal aspects of the work. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors makes me happy and I aspire to convey that “feeling” to my viewers and customers.
I am a native of Sikeston, Missouri and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with a BS in Historic Preservation. I had an interesting career in travel and relocation management in the corporate world prior to retirement in 2004. My husband Tom and I returned to Louisiana in 2008 and now live in Zachary, Louisiana. We live near our daughter and son-in-law, Robert and Tina Harmon Havard of Clinton, and our grandson Trey Havard and his family in Slaughter, Louisiana. I am President of the Zachary Artists Guild, a Board Member of the Regional Art Council of Zachary, and a member of Louisiana Art & Artist Guild. Additionally I am an active volunteer with Zachary United Methodist Church.
