My name is Margaret Marya Mayer. My middle name is pronounced Maria. This is what I went by for most of my life. I was born in South Carolina and raised in Mississippi. At fifteen, I moved abroad with my family for two years, came back to the states and attended University of Colorado where I got a degree in Environmental Design. I have lived in Saudi Arabia, Austria, and Colorado. I have traveled most of Europe and a little of Asia. I now call the southern U.S. my home. I am married and we have been blessed with 3 children. Besides being an artist, I am a pretty good tennis player.
God gave me my talent at a very young age. I can’t remember not having it. I know that I am not always successful with my work but that doesn’t stop me from trying. It gives me great pleasure to give this talent back and paint for others. I wish that more people could see the value and the difficulty in a beautiful painting.
This talent has also helped me on my Faith journey. Most of my life I've had a sort of 'tiny' faith in God. I've always believed in God but my actions didn't show it. I've done so many things without trusting in God. Always with the understanding that yes, God is there but I possess the ability to better my own life - my way.... and yes, I really believed this. Ironically, I’ve learned through many trials and hardships that real progress is made in all areas when I say with Faith, 'Your will God and not mine' then pray for Wisdom.
My goal: surrender more, listen harder, paint slower.
