My dymanic is to excite and/or evoke emotion in viewers of my art. I have drawn and painted for years, however, it is only in the last year that I have had the opportunity to develop more fully, my craft. Color is the key, dramatic, or subtle, color, form and content produce work, that I believe, is pleasing to the soul. I paint woman, for the most part, beautiful, powerful, and at times vulnrable women. My life experiences have led me to draw upon Native Americen imagery, often with a spiritual 'bent'. As my children are 1/4 Blackfoot, and I was taken under the wing of an Apache elder, this leads a good deal, but not all of my work. I have been self taught for a long time, but did aquire a degree in Fine Art.I do not digitally enhace my work. It comes from my heart to my hands to the canvas, or paper..
I successfully sell at shows, and Pow Wows, in New England. I have been commisioned for private work, in portraits, and simpler works for t-shirts, wedding announcements, etc. Recently, I was commisioned by a group in the city I live to paint a landscape as a selling tool for them to raise money for their cause. Thousands of dollars were raised in just the 15.00 ea. sales of those reproductions. I was fortunate to have had my picture taken with our city mayor. It was a wonderful eye opener for me. Although landscapes are really not a focus of my work, I was pleased to see the positive response to the piece, and the amount of money raised for a worthy cuase because of it.
There are a few mediums I use; oil, watercolor, and colored pencil. . I am inspired by beauty, by an emotion, a color, even a sound. I do not just intend to produce work I feel is personally valuable, but also work that when viewed, will raise an emotion to anyone who sees it.
