Maria Parmo - Fine Artist
Cordoba, Co - Argentina
Maria Parmo was born in Cordoba, Argentina, in 1959 and was active in art from her early childhood, including starting to study piano at age five. Her high school interest in mathematics carried into her studies at University where she majored in it for three years. Even though she had an intense interest in the subject she left the idea of having a career in it behind. But her studies in math have always given her a logical way of looking at things in the world and have had a direct influence on her artwork.
In 1983 a painter friend invited her to an outdoors painting session, where she watched for the first time a painter begin a work with a blank canvas and work on it through completion. To her, it was a magical process.
A few days later Parmo began her own work, and continued working until 1991 as a self-taught artist. It was that year that she entered the Art School of Universidad Nacional de Cordoba and got her B.A. degree in 1997.
Since 1995 she has exhibited in Argentina as well as internationally.
Parmo’s works are in private collections of Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Paraguay, U.S., Spain, Germany, Republic of Ireland and Serbia.
