Maria Szollosi - Fine Artist
.. . .. . ..'I am happy as long as I can do the things I love to do . That is what makes the day worth living , and that is what enriches my life .'
She graduated from the University of Art and Design in Budapest with a degree in textile and dress designer .
Maria ’s work is a reflection of her private experience , as a mother who lost her child . She also deals with the mother’s love , the deep pain , the sudden death with the survival of the tragedy .
The female figure is dominant most of her pictures as much as the texture patterns .She is particularly fascinated by iridescent effects .Maria used a wide variety of colours , and loves manipulating them . Colours is all important ; she loves the way it can evoke the emotions .
The complexity , the visionary dreams , the intuition of her paintings draws us in , connects with the viewer , and stimulates thoughts and emotions .
She sad :
'I try to explore the borderline between painting , freehand drawing , collage and computer media .I have always been influenced by textiles ,especially print and dye methods.
When I go about making a painting or a fashion illustration I start by responding to something which is beautiful or quirky or fascinating to me in some very personal way.It can be anything ,from a book , a magazine , a poem ,some hieroglyphics, whatever. It can be something ancient or new ,an old master drawing or an icon.
When I have decided upon the central motif I start to paint it ,and all my concentration and attention ,and the love I have for the object goes into the painting.
There is so much for me to respond to . Not just the imagery , but the paint and the materials themselves and the physical quality of the masks which I make .
