I come from a family with a great deal of God-given talent including writers, poets, artists and craftsmen. So I guess one could say that whatever talent I may have, I 'came by it honest.' I have always liked to draw and paint, and even enjoyed trying my hand at making pottery in High School. I enjoy sewing, and attempting to root roses, and making handcrafts. However, at the age of 21, I found myself divorced with a child to support and raise, and I had to find something that would bring in enough income to feed us both. Therefore, I went to Jefferson State Junior College and took a Secretarial Science course, after which I became a legal assistant. I worked for the same attorney for 20 years, and have since retired on disability; suffering from chronic pain due to arthritis and bone spurs throughout my body, in addition to fibromyalgia and neuropathy.
I am married with one daughter and two grandchildren of my own, as well as a stepson and stepdaughter and four step grandchildren, all of whom I love with all my heart and soul. I love animals of all varieties, and am owned by 3 parakeets named Spruce, Sunny and Snowy, one orange tabby cat named JoJo, and two ShihTzus named Miss Bitsy and Miss Gracie.
At the current time, I write Christian posts on my Facebook page, poetry, and I am in the process of writing my autobiography. I still enjoy sewing, and making handcrafts, but I particularly enjoy taking photographs and painting, especially since I cannot afford to purchase a potter's wheel and a kiln with which to make pottery, as did my 3rd great grandfather, Joel Falkner. If anyone reading this has ever heard of Sterrett Pottery, that pottery was first made in Sterrett, Alabama by my 3rd great grandfather.
I am a self-taught artist, and still consider myself to be very much an amateur; constantly learning. I enjoy what I paint and the photos I take, and I hope that all who see my work will find something that they like or can relate to and enjoy, as well. I use a lot of bright colors because I want a painting or photograph which will lift your spirit, as they do mine.
