I was born in Sterling Illinois but spent many years in the Chicago area. During my husband's military service and afterward, we lived in Omaha Nebraska and Aurora Colorado. For several years we had an in-shore tug and salvage business in Antigua British West Indies which was a wonderful experience. Things have gone full circle now and we are back in Sterling Illinois enjoying the peace and beauty of small town living. As a child I remember that my dad loved art and I would watch him draw. However, his real love was singing and my memories of that have always been much more in the forefront of my mind. I always enjoyed going to the Art Museum in Chicago both as a child and as an adult but I did not consider art as a way of life for myself until much later. My husband and I raised two wonderful sons and we currently have three incredible grandchildren. It is now that art has become an irreplaceable part of my life. I have been privildged to study for several years under Michael Gerry and have been exposed to his artistic genius at painting flowers. His ability as a portrait painter also served as inspiration for my own goals as an artist. I love doing portraits because the thrill of capturing the essence of the subject is a goal I always strive to reach. I love painting in oil because of the vibrancy of the colors and the smooth, buttery reaction of the paint to the bush and canvas. I view art as the ultimate means of expressing my feelings and creativity about the world around me.
