Entering this world addicted to Crack Cocaine, Marquita Dunn Smith has used her sadness and love for family as an Artistic drive to create the depths of her soul with various medium. Starting in the third grade, her first piece was exibitd in the City of Hampton City Hall. Her artistic journey paused for about 6 years, until she returned to her first love in the beginning year of her high school career. In those 4 years, she was awarded Second Place in the Peninsula Fine Arts Center High School Juried Art Show, and an Honorable Mention in the Charles H. Taylor High School Art Exibition. She furthered her learning at Virginia Commonwealth University, pursuing a career in Art Education. She currently maintains her focus on characterized realism in her current portraits. Her style is unique and signature, which mirrors her personality. Her favorite object to portray is the human eye, because of the truth and depth in them. Please Enjoy Marquita!
