Photography spoke to me as an art form when I took a basic photography class while working toward a BFA in painting. The endless possibilities and variety of processes available when capturing light images was very exciting. Changing my emphasis to photography, I began to explore basic black and white film. Pure light and shadow, captured on film, is a joy to watch appearing in a darkroom tray! Some processes explored were solarization, posterization, multiple masked negatives, liquid emulsion on handmade paper and other surfaces.
My location here in the Great Plains and my love for sky-watching has created my love of sunset and storm images. 'Everyone' does these, so it's been challenging to get something 'different.' My greatest hope is that my work will help people decide to take a moment to stop and look around at their world, wherever it is. Perhaps then we will all begin to treat our beautiful green planet with the love and respect we ALL deserve.
