Brea, CA - United States
Mary Ann Gough's intricate creations express the beauty of scenes from her travels to interesting and sometimes remote areas. Her paintings encompass a blend of native customs and lyricism.
Mary Ann is very much interested in SAVING THE RAINFOREST and the gorgeous beauty within and the people who live there. For this reason she has done many paintings which reveal the hidden treasures within Tropical Rainforests in Hawaii, South America, Mexico, and Asia. Her paintings exhibit a flair for vibrant colors and detailed realism. Her subjects reflect her interest and devotion to third world and folk idioms.
Mary Ann studied art at Scripps College under Phil Dike and sculpturing under Nishan Tour, a renowned sculptor. She was selling paintings at the age of 14 and teaching art by the age of 16. In addition she painted murals in private Pasadena and San Marino estates. She later established her own graphic art agency which prospered for over 25 years. She has designed and sold jewelry, batiks, and ceramics. She has been commissioned to paint murals, to do silk screening and has designed stained glass. Her works have been exhibited at galleries in Laguna Beach, Pasadena, Lake Arrowhead and others.
