Mary Vollero teaches art at Penn State. She lives in Central Pennsylvania with her husband and their six cats.
I make art and show my work in an effort to better understand myself, my environment, and to communicate with others about our lives, our struggles, and hopes for the future. Although I work in a variety of media, similar threads run throughout my work which speak about beauty and themes common to us all, such as loss, suffering, hope and transformation.
The process of art‐making is as important to me as the final product. It is during the time that I spend in the labor, when I discover unforeseen solutions and gain greater insight into the content and meaning of my work, my life, and our connections to each other.
