MAUGDO VASQUEZ
I have been crossing by this beautiful way of the art, approximately for 32 years, when for the first time, I was included for a pencil exhibition in the National School of Plastic Arts, in 1975, when I was 14 years old. I remember very well that time, because it was then when I discovered my own paradise of outlines and colors. In the 70ties and 80ties, I made murals in several faculties and squares of the Saint Charles University, with social thematic and carried out a proliferate work production with denunciation, these constantly included children, like reference to these beings who always take the worse part of an insensible society. This did that my friend: Tasso Hadjidodou considered that I was an artist who practiced the aesthetic like resistance. I made more than 40 individual and collective exhibitions, having obtained several national and Central American prizes. I have distributed my work in Guatemala, Central America, the USA and Germany. I have been experiencing all the thematic varied techniques and, especially I’ve dedicated more than 22 years to artistic teaching. I have painted figurative landscapes, personages and subjects like streamlined women; I have even experimented with totally abstract works. But always I have painted the realism that I consider is the confrontation of a professional artist of his quality and experience. And it has given me acceptance between my clients having the privilege to paint to important people of Guatemala and the foreigner, and personages of science and the world-wide art. In years 90 and 2000 a more fantastic expression arose in me, especially with the subject of the woman, that is at the end the muse of all those who loved and practiced this manifestation that is called Art.
