I'm originally from the river town of New Richmond, Ohio. I went on to do undergraduate studies at Eastern Michigan University with majors in Anthropology, Fine Arts, and Biology. I did further Master's level studies in Cultural Anthropology at Arizona State University and Secondary Biology Education at Xavier University (Cincinnati). I taught art for 5 years in Arizona, science for 9 years in Cincinnati and a further 7 years in Luton (just outside London), England. I'm currently pursuing certification in Cultural Museum Studies.
My passion for art came naturally as both sides of my family tree are loaded down with artistic types. However, most of my early inspiration and training came from my father who was quite gifted in many media. I also acquired a keen interest in history, archaeology, and nature from my father.
