Michael Cunliffe Thompson - Fine Artist

Michael Cunliffe Thompson is a sailor and an artist. His work is inspired by nature
and is expressionist in style. He paints from a sailboat anchored in distant
bays of Maine. Mike began painting full time in 2002 after thirty years
as an engineer. He is self-taught and has benefited from critique courses
at the DeCordova Museum, Worcester Art Museum and the Cambridge Center
Studio School. He has been an active member of the Critique Group at the Concord
Art Association for many years.

Since he began painting full time he has had six solo exhibitions
His work has been selected for many juried shows around Massachusetts.

Recently Mike has begun a new series of paintings on the subject of
Leda and the Swan. This subject is an excuse (if one be needed) to have
the female nude and a swan in the same painting. What an irresistible
combination!
