Holland Artist Participates In Her Third Artpize

Michelle Calkins of Holland, Michigan will be competing in her third Artprize this year. Having grown up in Grand Rapids, she couldn't wait to explore the art of Artprize 2009. Experiencing 2009's inaugural Artprize as a viewer was a huge inspiration for Michelle. Knowing such a wonderful opportunity to participate in an artistic conversation was a mere 30 miles away, she awaited the inspiration for 2010. It came in the form of a dream. An idea to print the colors and textures of her paintings on magnets floated through her head. A colorful array of magnets would allow people to easily make their own art. The goal was to take the intimidation factor out of creating. "Create Rinse Repeat" was a huge success.
