What doesn’t exist is as important as what does.
Local Richmond BC artist Ming Yeung, has been nominated as a finalist of the ‘Artistic Innovation Award’ by City of Richmond, BC, Canada on April 29, 2010.
Ming was born in Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient. In 1998, a trip to Hong Kong Arts Centre after her third child was born convinced her that it was time she did something for herself. After immigrating to Canada in 1999, Ming continued her passion for Free Style Chinese painting by correspondence course.
With the opening of her own home-based studio in 2003, she began to focus on teaching. She has organized exhibitions for her students at various galleries and libraries. She shares her passion through volunteering at school, workshops and art demonstrations to keep Chinese art alive in her new country. Her passion and precious teaching spread this love, making it available to broadcasts and media.
Over the past eight years, Ming has had solo exhibitions at Vancouver International Airport and the local art galleries. She has participated into various collaborative group shows throughout the Lower Mainland. . Numerous words from the international artists and art lovers depict how they perceive her paintings. She had also been a featured artist of ‘Negative Space’.
One of Ming’s main goals as an artist is to provide the Community with a better understanding of the art of Free Style Chinese Painting, and to bring in a different perspective of painting to a community as vibrant and diversified in culture.
