Mon Saepharn was born in a rustic refugee camp in Thailand, from the Mien Hill Tribes that fled the Qingdong region of China. The natural world around Mon became her solace in the turmoil of her early years. Surviving with her family, she made it to San Francisco, and eventually settled in Suisun City, knowing no English. Before she could communicate well through words, she was fascinated by art and used it as a form of expression.
