Drawing and painting from life, including landscape, figurative and still life, is an interaction that inspires me. Not interested in making a photographic image, I enjoys exploring the possibilities of pushing light and shadow to create forms, and this approach relates to every medium and subject in my art.
An early interest in art led to my being an Art Major in high school. I was lucky those rare teachers that inspired me and had a major impact on my life journey. I would lock myself in my room and paint for hours. Then life got in the way, an early marriage changed my focus to what I thought were more important things. I continued my creative activities, however painting was something I said I would do when the time was right, it always seemed a distant dream.
Twenty years later, every thing changed. I moved west with a new husband still holding that dream. At the encouragement of my husband, I signed up to take an art class, I was so frightened to take that class that he had to drive me to the school. Silly me, it opened the flood gates, and I have not put down my pencil or brush since that day. I have studied at Montseratte School, MA, The Denver Art students league, CO, Univeristy of NM, and workshops with well know Taos Artists.
I am current President of the Taos Society of Portrait Artists and host the Thursday evening open Taos figure drawing group that has been on going for more than 30 years. My work has been shown in many exhibitions and collected internationally.
