Nancy Dunn - Fine Artist
East Brunswick, NJ - United States
A portrait artist who specializes in animals, Nancy's goal is to describe a subject's soul through use of color or pose. She strives for technical excellence in her rendering of textures. Whether the media is graphite, colored pencil, watercolor, pastel or oil, her level of comfort is the same. There is always some element of beauty in any animal- or human- perhaps in the way the scales or hair is layered, or the expression in the eyes, or the way a hand or paw grasps an object. She believes this respect for animal or human life is communicated in her portrayals.
A background as a registered nurse and having a bachelors degree in communications, as well as studying art in college, assist in her visual artistic quests through the years. She has also attended the attelier of Marcel Franquelin, contemporary realist.
She has exhibited locally at galleries, coffee houses, museums, and other venues, as well as accepting commission work. She is an associate member of CPSA, GSWCS, NJWCS, EAS, and SCAA, and has won awards for several of her pieces.
