www.vinzantlamay.com “Painting is definitely a time of excitement, joy, and a reflection of what I see; a life time learning process. The excitement never seems to go away with each new composition. My desire is to share with others what I see with color and shapes. '
Born in Southern California, a daughter of a Los Angeles concert pianist, a granddaughter of an oil painter, and a niece of a Los Angeles sculpturist, in my youth I was surrounded with a variety of art mediums. A fond memory was watching my grandmother shake dry paint from glass tubes and then mix together with a medium on ceramic tiles with palette knives. At an early age I connected to the rich texture of impasto.
However, I didn't start a painting career till after my children were off in college. As a self-taught artist I began to attend art workshops, art guilds, and exhibiting in galleries, museums, and events.
Strongly inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's strokes, Claude Monet's Impressionist style, Pierre Bonnard's color; I continue this vision of color, shape, and design with painting alla prima and plein air. I love painting outdoors -called 'plein air' , being outdoors inspires my paintings with light and shadows. I continue this journey of painting with encouragement from family and friends!
