'Exquisite pastel portraits from your cherished photos.'
Born Nancy Isabel Salazar in Caracas, Venezuela, Nanybel started painting with watercolors and oils at the age of five. Her grandmother was a gifted artist in her own right and provided the inspiration that started her on her way to drawing and painting. It was she who coined the nickname 'Nanybel' (short for Nancy Isabel) and whose memory is honored in the signing of every portrait she creates.
In 1996, Nanybel moved to the United States when she opened an Art Gallery, received several commissioned portraits and won awards at fine art competitions. Nanybel moved to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in 2000, continued her portrait work and conducted private classes in portraiture for members of the Royalty. Some of the exquisite works she produced during this period were proudly displayed in the prestigious Casa Nova Art Gallery, in Abu Dhabi.
Nanybel returned to the United States in 2002. After a long period of relative isolation from the art world, doing only portraits by commission and working as a Fitness Tech, she took a leap in 2011 stepping out of her comfort zone by adding floral paintings and gallery portraits to her portfolio, joining several art societies, participating in local, national and international fine art competitions and regularly exhibiting her award-winning artwork.
Nanybel has written articles for the prestigious The Portrait Society of Atlanta's FOLIO magazine, has worked as a model for groups of artists and teaches private portrait drawing classes at her studio.
