NIELS JENSEN
Born in Copenhagen 1964, Niels Jensen grew up in Lund, Sweden.
Armed with a past as a singer/songwriter and movie director, he is now active as a painter,
working with modern freeform art.
In his work, Niels Jensen is using various forms ofmixed media and techniques that convey
the urban beat. His work derives impressions from everything from full-scale urban settings
to more direct, concrete meetings with metallic surfaces, the sparks of the reflected neon light
in the asphalt, the torn advertisement poster, or the feeling of soft velvet fabrics.
The structure of the paintings surfaces becomes central to his artistic impression.
Color plays the role of a sudden intruder, adding explosive dynamics to the paintings.
Sometimes we can glimpse human figures and faces in the abstract landscapes and the expression,
even if achived through power tools, becomes attractive and intriguing.
Behind Niels Jensen´s work is a strong passion and will to play with different materials.
The process is entirely improvised and there is never any reference sketches.
The materials rub and connect while Niels Jensen i using his instincts to navigate towards the final painting.
Niels explains:'I´ve caught a wave of spontaneous impulse and Im trying to land in the best possible way'.
