All the work here is my original art, although you may notice that elements of some pieces have been inspired by certain artists. My art features bold designs and bright colours with paint thickly applied, an 'impasto light' style using acrylic paint. The essence of art is freedom, and I hope that you will take an indulgent view and find something that you like in my gallery.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Unless otherwise stated, all my art comprises acrylic paint applied on gesso-primed stretched canvas. Sizes are as stated on the individual items themselves. All pieces of art have been finished with two coats of gloss varnish to provide a protective coating and to enhance the colours used in my paintings. All items are signed and dated.
PAYMENT FOR ORIGINAL ARTWORKS PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTIST
I accept payment by Paypal; many customers find this to be the easiest and most secure method. You do not need to have a Paypal account to make a payment through Paypal – you can pay with your credit card without an account.
I will only ship an item once payment has cleared (whether made by Paypal or otherwise). If you have not paid within five days of being notified of the total order price (see shipping and postage below – I may need to confirm the total postage costs for your order to you) and there has been no contact (I appreciate that cheque and direct transfers may take a little longer), then I will consider the item not bought and will re-list the item.

SHIPPING AND POSTAGE FOR ORIGINAL ARTWORKS PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTIST
I usually ship within three working days of cleared payment being received. Shipping is by standard class postage. I can send by other class or postage methods upon request.
Postage costs are in addition to the cost of the item and are, therefore, for the account of the purchaser. Fixed postage costs apply if you purchase artwork for delivery to the UK; otherwise I will find out how much the postage costs are for the particular item (sizes obviously vary) to the purchaser's desired delivery address and inform the purchaser accordingly. This may take a day or two. For this reason, I have not displayed fixed postage costs for my items here as these will differ in every case. This would ensure that each purchaser only pays the actual cost of delivering the desired item to him/her, in accordance with any particular postage requirements.
I have attached a link below to Royal Mail's postage cost calculator so that you can get your own idea of how much it would cost using Royal Mail to deliver your purchase to you. My paintings are not heavy; they weigh up to 1,200 grams, so if you insert 1,200 grams as the weight of the package for the purposes of the calculator, you should get a reasonably accurate estimate of postage costs.
Items usually take around seven to ten working days to reach the United States. However, please note that items may occasionally take longer (up to a few weeks) to arrive as they can be held up at customs. This is unusual, but you if you particularly want an item to be delivered in the United States by a certain date, then I would recommend that you order early just in case.
To summarise the obvious, the length of time your order takes to arrive after it is dispatched will depend on the applicable mail service (either first class recorded delivery or as chosen by you) and your location.
Please note that any customs or import duties, taxes, levies and revenues or similar payments of like nature that may be payable are the buyer's responsibility.

INSURANCE FOR ORIGINAL ARTWORKS PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTIST
Packages sent with Royal Mail are insured up to a maximum amount of approximately £40. However, I understand that this only applies to damage occasioned in the United Kingdom, i.e. by Royal Mail, but fortunately I have never had to test this limitation. Buyers are responsible for requesting insurance for damage or loss for any amount greater than this and/or for any damage that would not be covered under the terms of Royal Mail's customary insurance, so please let me know/email me when placing your order and I will enquire about this when determining the shipping costs and let you know the amount payable in respect of any additional insurance.

REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES FOR ORIGINAL ARTWORKS PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTIST
It is important to me that you are happy with your purchase. Although I am confident that if you buy from me you will love your new art, for your peace of mind I will accept returns if notified in writing within seven days of receipt and the item itself is returned to me undamaged and in its original condition within seven days of notification of return (in the United Kingdom) or 14 days of notification (rest of the world). The item returned must be in a re-saleable condition otherwise a refund cannot be given.
The buyer is responsible for return delivery costs. Delivery costs incurred in shipping the item to the buyer will not be refunded. Refunds of money transferred to me will be instructed upon receipt of the returned item in the required condition (see above).
If you have any issues at all, then please contact me in the first instance. Above all, I want my customers to be happy and will do all that I can to resolve any problem to your satisfaction.
FORCE MAJEURE
Neither I nor the shop Hysterie of Art will be under any liability whatsoever if I am prevented or delayed from supplying or making delivery of any item by any reason or cause beyond my control.
COPYRIGHT AND EXCLUSIVITY
The entire copyright in each item of artwork appearing on the Fine Art America website under the name of Oliver Johnston and/or in the gallery Hysterie of Art is retained by Oliver Johnston at all times throughout the world.
If and to the extent necessary by the laws of England and Wales and/or any other applicable jurisdiction, Oliver Johnston, the artist, hereby asserts his copyright in each item of artwork appearing on the Fine Art America website under his name and/or in the shop Hysterie of Art.
Accordingly, all my work is subject to copyright, and cannot be copied or resold in any form without my prior written permission, including after purchase (all rights remain with the artist).
Oliver Johnston and the shop Hysterie of Art each retain the right to use any item(s) of artwork appearing on the Fine Art America website under either of their names in any manner at any time and in any part of the world for the purposes of advertising and/or any other promotion.
