Artist's Statement;
If a good artist's artworks are really worth millions of dollars, when the artist dies, then those same artworks are worth millions of dollars also, while the artist is still alive, because neither time, nor death, nor the public finally realizing the worth of the artist's artworks, can change the true worth of the artist's artworks. Anything, other than this statement, is merely games, which the so called professionals of the public art world play, for huge profit.

Born in 1950, as Steve Kreuscher. As of Friday the 13th of June 2008, I legally changed my name, from Steve Kreuscher, to 'In God We Trust', ( the reasons are written in the next paragraph ) and now, two years later, as of Friday the 6th of August 2010, I changed my name once again legally to 'One Nation Under God'; It's like a new self portrait, not with paint on canvas, but with those powerful phrases engraved onto the canvas of my life.

Many people, who don't know me tend to think I am crazy for changing my name to those to powerful religious motto's. People, who do know me, know that both name changes are artistic personal self-expressions. I grew up in the 50's, when those 2 motto's were first put on our currency, declared as our national motto and was put in 'The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag'. Those two powerful motto's really became an important part of my character, my life and who and what the times, that I grew up in, were molding me and shaping me into. In God We Trust also expresses, the faith that God has produced in me, my life and my character, through many really tough trials and tribulations that He has safely brought me through in my life. Both, In God We Trust and One Nation Under God were what was being preached to me and taught to me as I grew up in the 50's. In a multitude of different ways those two motto's were being engraved on the character of my life, as a sign of the times. Back then, most Americans both saw America and believed it to be One Nation Under God and In God We Trust. That is how I saw this country during the most important character building years of my life. Now days things are changing and 'In God We Trust' and 'One Nation Under God' are slowly vanishing from this great country's character. I also changed my name to those two powerful motto's as a statement to all my fellow Americans saying reach out and grab a hold of the things, which made this country a great country to begin with, and anything that is good that we have already let go of and lost, let us reach out and grab it once again. You may ask, 'Isn't changing my name to those two motto's rather extreme, though ?' To that question I answer by saying. 'Not for an artist, 'cause many artist's are always searching for new creative and unusual ways to express themselves. Also after 35 years of being a great artist, who does great quality artworks, you begin to get a little desperate in your search of new ways to express yourself and get the world to finally notice you and your artworks. I was 57 when I changed my name the first time in 2008, not that great of health and not knowing just how much time I had left on the face of this earth, I felt like I had to do something, even if it seemed to be a little extreme, to finally open the eyes of the public to me as a great 20th century artist and my artworks. Within 3 months of my first name change, 'Hilo Art Museum' in Hawaii accepted 12 of my original pieces of artworks into their permanent collection. But then the economy went sour and a year latter, that art museum went broke financially and had to close down.

I was born and raised in a historical city, which a world famous faith healer founded; ( Dr. John Alexander Dowie ), in 1900, Zion Illinois USA. This accounts for me growing up as a very religious mystic.

A new very interesting friendship has recently begun in my life, which could probably prove that world peace is attainable. The new friendship is probably the most unlikely friendship in the world, for me to have, but life is strange. The new friendship accidentally came about, as I was searching the Internet, about issues concerning 'One Nation Under God' for the purpose of my new name change, which I filed last tuesday, June 1, 2010, in Lake County Court. As I searched, I came across many articles about Rob Sherman, the famous atheist. As I read and opened my mind and my heart, I couldn't help, but develop a high respect for his zeal, his integrity, and his whole hearted commitment to what he believes in. Therefore, I emailed him and told him my feelings. I soon realized that Rob is so much like me, as far as zeal, integrity, whole hearted commitment to what he believes and that the only big difference is that we are totally on the opposite sides of the fence, in that I am a Christian and he is an Atheist. I realized that he is a man just like me in composition and character and that we both very strongly believe in fairness, equal rights for all, freedom for all, justice for all and lastly, that we both are very strongly against unconstitutional government political shopping sprees with our hard earned tax money.
Therefore, on the basis of the above statement, I recommend anyone to check out his website and read the stances, which he is taking; http://www.robsherman.com/ If you are a Christian, you probably won't agree with everything, I believe that you will find many of them though that you can accept, that is if you feel that we should abide by the constitution, then it is the right and fair thing to do, to accept the ones that you see as constitutionally correct. Like Rob Sherman and Ron Paul, I am all for getting back to the original constitution, and especially when it comes to unconstitutional government spending. Lastly, although I was upfront with Rob, telling him that I took it a little personal, when he had the Zion City Seal taken down, from my home town, Zion, Illinois, I still have to respect him for his unwavering commitment to what he believes. I can't help but believe that if God had only 100 Christians, with as much zeal and whole hearted commitment to Christianity, as Mr. Rob Sherman has for Atheism, then the whole world would probably be converted to Christianity by now.
Most sincerely, In God We Trust the Artist, formerly known as Steve Kreuscher, and soon to be known as, One Nation Under God.

As of November 2008, 12 of my original pieces of artwork are in the permanent collection of 'Hilo Art Museum' in Hawaii. See the following link;

First of all and above all, my artworks are an artistic autobiography of my life, my character and my strong beliefs and opinions.

Ironically, I started to paint and draw, through a devastating tragedy; of my best friend getting killed in a car accident, when I was 17 years old.

Within a few years, I had my first one man art show, in 1969.

Then in 1971, I took 3rd place for surrealistic sculptures in an art show at Buckingham Fountain, Chicago, Illinois.

Then a year later, in 1972, I took 2nd place for my surrealistic paintings, in an art show again at Buckingham Fountain, Chicago, Illinois.

Schooling; Semi-taught by, who I consider the holy trinity of the modern art world; Dali, Magritte and M. C. Escher. I have studied their works for 37 years now, as sincere and as faithfully, as someone studying for their doctor's degree in something. This qualifies me as what I call a semi-self-taught artist, and accounts for my surrealistic style. Since, I am a mystic and a surrealist, I call my personal style Mystical Surrealism.

Many people say that surrealism died in 1940. On the contrary, I declare that surrealism is alive more, than ever before, and that it will never die as long as our imaginations and our dreams continue. Surrealism is much more, than just a passing popular art trend. It rises up alive and fresh to every new generation. The tremendously, powerful freedom of surrealism reaches out, grabs and takes a hold of people, from every nationality and every generation since it began. Surrealism frees us to be ourselves and to think for ourselves. Therefore, surrealism is not dead, it has just branched out everywhere and into every artistic media you can think of, giving birth to so many grandchildren movements and styles everywhere.

My life has been full of severe tribulations and almost identical to Van Gogh's life, but 100 years later. The one main difference, between my life and Van Gogh's life, is that I survived, but only because of my four guardian angels;
( my four children ), and God through them.

The following are sayings that I made up and have become known for saying them.

'Dare to be different, but in a good way !'

by In God We Trust

'Relationships are most important, everything else will vanish with the wind'

by In God We Trust

'Regardless of your circumstances, happiness is a choice, for better, or for worse, in prosperity, or in poverty and in sickness, or in health.'

by One Nation Under God, formerly In God We Trust and before that Steve Kreuscher ( my birth name )
