Paco Leal is a self taught, portrait artist who works with oil paints, on canvas.
Born in Guadalajara, México, in 1964, he began drawing at a very young age. His formal education was in Industrial Design at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. Upon graduation however, he followed his heart and began working full time painting portraits.
Paco starts a portrait using a photograph as reference, thus avoiding the need to have the client pose for hours or even several sessions. Some clients have sent photographs by e-mail and that works well when the photographs are of excellent quality.
If he is working exclusively on one portrait, it takes 3 to 4 weeks to finish.
