Although, what ability I have is God given and I have had no formal training, I was born into an artistic family. My mother and father were very artistic and creative people. Any training I have had was growing up with the guidance of these talented people. My first memory of being guided I was not more than 3. My father came into my room where I was coloring and he tried to get me to color in small circles instead of my preschool scribbling! Next memory was with my mom when I was about 7. The lesson was that of shading and drawing a tree as it really looks. It was that lesson that really opened my eyes to drawing and gave me the desire to draw with depth.
I continued to draw through out my growing up but never really did much with it until my kids were grown and I had time to focus on who I was again.
I think I surprised myself and others around me when I started drawing again. Gradually I have been, getting back into drawing and now I am working on color in oils. This is huge for me for I have truly been afraid of color in the past. I am having a blast now and don't want to do anything else but paint with color!
I have had several galleries want me to come and display, but I have not had the work or the self confidence. Displaying at the County Fair and winning ribbons was a huge step in my self confidence. Now, with peoples encouragement I am ready to go the next step and open myself up to the outside viewer.
When I am not painting or drawing, I am playing with my grand daughter, or acting and singing with PALOA (Port Angeles Light Opera Association). We put on large scale family musicals like Oliver, South Pacific, etc. I am also involved with our bible church, where I also act when we have dramas. Then I work with the small children on Sundays.
Thank you for looking me up. I hope you enjoy your time here.
