My name is Paul Kuras and I am a professional freelance car designer/illustrationist. I often draw cars, but enjoy drawing anything in the transportation field. I was born and raised in Dover, Delaware. I have always had an interest in cars starting with Hot Wheels when I was a kid. That interest hasn't changed, only grown.
I left Dover in 1994 to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Center For Creative Studies with a major in Industrial Design. While I was at the school, I was given many visual communication projects, especially in the transportation courses. I had a lot of fun learning about how the light hits a surface, or how to indicate “body roll”. I enjoyed creating these car illustrations that seemed to just jump out at you.
I worked with many companies through sponsered studios at CCS including Johnson Controls, John Deere, Lego, and Bissel. A few years ago, I drew a picture of a 1970 Superbird for my wife, as a present (that was one of her favorite cars). When a friend saw the drawing, he asked if I could draw his 1970 Firebird. He loved it. Soon after, I started Kuras Custom Renderings. I love to hear the owner's stories and learn so much about specific models. Most importantly, I am involved with my passion, the automobile. I'm excited with every project that comes to me and always look forward to the next challenge!
