Prior to 2004, I had no artistic training beyond the traditional mediums with which my traditional mom had acquainted me - cooking and sewing. In 2004, I received an e-mail advertisement from my employer offering a Monart class for non-artists. Since I was teaching alternative students of whom a high percentage were artistically talented, I was attracted by this offer to help me to incorporate art into my instruction. I immediately signed on and became hooked. I am now greatly enjoying my new pastime.
Being a student of Linda Hansen and the Monart method, I believe that each stroke of the brush or pencil is meant to be. As the artist, it is my job to discover its purpose and to unify the strokes into a harmonious whole. My work is not laborious, and I do not seek exact realism.
I have been a part of the following shows: Single artist at Citizens' and Farmers' Bank, August of 2007; Kinks, Quirks, and Caffeine Visiting Artists, September, 2008.
I am pleased with the opportunity to share what I have done, and I hope that it brings meaningful pleasure to you, as it does to me.
