In the 3rd grade Paula won first place in a coloring contest sponsored by a local coffee shop. The prize was $5 and a banana split. That's when the 'coloring for money' seed was planted, and she never looked back. When she grew up she studied architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, then went on to earn a degree in illustration at the Academy of Art in San Francisco.
