Landscape and Marine Artist in Watercolor, Acrylics and Oil Pastel
Interested in Art as a young boy, I was inspired and encouraged by my Father, Eric R. Farrow, who was an accomplished watercolorist in his younger days prior to moving on to commercial art.
My career has been involved in Sales and Marketing Management within the U.K.Food Industry, which gave me much scope to develop my art in product label design, marketing and sales promotion including National and International Food Exhibitions. For ten years before my retirement, I ran my own Sales and Marketing Agency working in the U.K. on behalf of various U.K. and European Food Manufacturers.
During the 1970's, I attended several evening art courses studying the essentials of drawing, sketching and oil painting. It was during this time that my elderly Art Tutor suggested that my oil paintings were more like watercolors! Due to career pressures and other interests, I did not paint again until my full retirement in 2001, when I decided to take my elderly Art Tutor's advice and study watercolor painting at various art workshops and courses later followed by acrylics and oil pastel.
Living near West Kirby Marine Lake by the Dee Estuary in North West England, I enjoy painting scenes of sailing craft in addition to landscapes. My style based on my own reference pics tends to be realistic yet I like to compose my paintings by using artistic licence to move subjects and to 'change' the weather conditions where necessary to improve my composition.
For many years, I have been a member of several Wirral Peninsula Art Societies exhibiting and selling my artwork. Known over the years as 'Pierre' in several Internet Art Forums, a name given to me in my local French Conversation Classes, it was also influenced by my keen interest in painting scenes of the French countryside which my wife and I have visited many times on vacation.
I am delighted now to be a member of fineartamerica.com
