Philip Hilton was born and raised in Ohio, and currently resides in Ft Myers, Florida. Having painted since his teen years, he has focused exclusively on watercolor for the past twenty-eight years. His formal education includes a BSS degree from Ohio University, and courses from Cleveland Institute of Art and the universities of Iowa, North Dakota and Kansas. He also furthered his skills in watercolor under the tutelage of such well-known artists as Zoltan Zabo, Gordon Morrison, Ron Ranson, Valfred Thelin, Mary Lois Verilla and Pat Weaver. His style is usually subjective, featuring strong value patterns of light and dark in a wide range of subjects. He has painted many scenes, people and animals from his extensive travels, including Africa, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and French Polynesia. Mr. Hilton is currently a signature member of the Florida Watercolor Society and member of the Sanibel-Captiva Art Association. He has taught painting classes from elementary to high school age - adults to senior citizens for over nineteen years. He has recently lectured, taught and given demonstrations in watercolor painting and calligraphy under the “Academy” learning enrichment program at Shell Point, Florida, as well as teaching on cruise ships for various major cruise lines.
