Iíve held a paintbrush in hand since as long as I can recall. I completed the Famous Artists School and Art Instruction courses in my late teens and painted murals for my schoolís Spanish and English classroom walls. Despite a scholarship to the Cincinnati Art Academy, I joined the U.S. Navy where I spent over two years in
the Mediterranean on the sixth fleet flagship. While there I had the good fortune of seeing firsthand thegreat ancient works of art. Upon returning from the Navy, I studied at the University of Cincinnatiís School of
While I continued to develop my fine art skills on my own time, I was early established in commercial art as an Art Director for one of the largest ad agencies in the Midwest. Through this phase of my career, I worked as an Art Director, Vice President, and Senior Graphic Designer in Indiana and Ohio. But, I painted whenever I could, carried a sketchbook in the briefcase, and enjoyed family outings through art museums and galleries across the U.S. My first solo show was held at the prestigious Cincinnati Art Club in 1979.
I relocated to California to form an ad agency with my brother where I did illustration work for major companies. During this period, I continued to paint a wide range of subject matter in oil and watercolor.
I became a member of two fine art organizations and the Illustrators Society of Los Angeles.
Having established a love of the west we moved to Utah in 1998, where I continued my agency's commercial art business. I have won many fine art awards and my paintings appear in numerous public and private collections. Iíve also participated in the National Park Serviceís Yosemite Artist-in-Residence program. Two of my paintings for the U.S. Air Force are hanging in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
My paintings have shown in galleries throughout the West, including: Palm Desert, Southern California, Sedona, Scottsdale, Park City, and Salt Lake City. Presently, I am enjoying my association with Gallery 25 in Ogden and continue to pursue my passion.
