Award winning photographer, specializing in landscape, nature and the great outdoors photography, with images featured in news papers, magazines, books, calendars, national broadcasting, competitions and on the cover of Canadian Geographic magazine.
Pierre was born in Quebec Canada where he learned to appreciate nature and the great outdoors from an early age. He first held a camera when he was fourteen years old and has been experimenting with the medium of photography ever since. At college in Sherbrooke, Pierre studied in animation, photography and video. Then a trans-Canada road trip with friends brought Pierre to the mountain resort of Whistler, B.C. The next few years were spent concentrating on his love of winter sports, taking photographs and videos of the wild exploits of his adventurous friends.
A surf trip prompted Pierre to move to Maui, Hawaii in 2000 , and here he was inspired to develop his artistic talent. The lush, tropical Hawaiian landscape provided a picturesque backdrop for this artistically creative period and was often captured on camera before the scene was skilfully put to canvas. He exhibited his paintings (acrylic on canvas, 2003) at a popular eatery, selling them all to the establishments’ art-loving owners. It was around this time that Pierre first acquired a digital SLR camera and this reignited his passion for photography. Since then he has focused his attention on developing his photographic skills, concentrating specifically on landscape, wildlife and action sports photography.
His unique style conveys simple, individual compositions, with intense attention to detail. Nature is his inspiration and his favourite visual playground. Pierre loves to be outside with and in the elements and is always mesmerized by the beauty of the natural world.
'To be a photographer is to be aware of things around you. Lots of people miss the most beautiful of things. You need to appreciate nature and see it as it is. You need to be aware.'
