Prakash Bal Joshi - Fine Artist
Mumbai, ma - India
I began drawing the moment i laid my hand on chalk and slate , learnt to draw zero before any alphabet and continued with drawing and sketching ever since. no formal art education but continued with passion searching inner impressions based on observations of nature .
drawing in ink and painting mostly abstract are spontaneous and reflect my internal turmoile held first solo show at Artist Centre Mumbai last year
landscape and human figure inter-mix and take their own shape and texture .it is basically a spiritual search and question - who am i and why i draw
My art work during 2007 has taken on a fresh dimension and can be seen as an exploration for new perspectives. I have been thinking and reading and searching Saraswati, a river which disappeared thousands of years ago. Some believe that it is still running at a subterranean level while others fell that it has simply disappeared.
These paintings talk through contrasting and sometimes harsh colors . Molten red and freezing blues , for instance, warn of death and destruction and the emergence of a new life at a different level. Most of the paintings express concern at the loss of values, much like the river running underground or simply disappearing; they offer no solution but warn of dire consequences. As an artist I have been wondering whether she disappered as a result of climate changes happened ages ago.I face canvas with all these questions and anxieties.
