About Randall Branham

I first started photographing back in 1976 while on a hunting trip to the Great Rocky Mountains with a few other friends. I bought my first professional camera to photograph our adventures and have never looked back the camera eventually replacing my rifle.
I'm what you call self taught, I have literately been taught by the best in the world Such as Ansel Adams, Frans Lanting, John Shaw, Galen Rowell, Art Wolfe, Edward Weston, and many others to numerous to mention, including the magazines where I have been published .
After competing in many International contests sometimes with as many as 36,000 entries and coming in second place, it teaches you to incorporate a wide range of techniques and styles until you finally develope your own.
Creating my own ' photo/art ' today is my passion and allows me to develop an image as it lends itself to be formed, not with just my abilities behind a camera, but learning to use all the tools available to me. I used to carve wood objects with chisel and hammer and my wife has sold her paintings by using her brushes. But we have learned it takes tools, technique and talent to develop a work of art and once I learned to previsualize what an image needs to make it unique and stand out from all others my work has advanced and my photo/art now out sells my straight photography.

Art Of Autumn

Nature's way of saying stop and look at the "me" the leaves. This is my favorite time of the year. I love photographing in the fall amongst all the splendor of color available. do you ever wonder how /why the leaves turn in autumn. Here's what the experts say.The changing of leaf color in temperate forests involves several causes and reactions, but the dominant factors are sunlight and heat. Since temperatures tend to drop sooner and sunlight fades faster at higher latitudes, the progression of fall color changes tends to move from north to south across North America from mid-September through mid-November. In late summer and autumn, tree and plant leaves produce less chlorophyll, the green pigment that harvests sunlight for plants to convert water and carbon dioxide into sugars. The subsidence of chlorophyll allows other chemical compounds in the leaves—particularly carotenoids and flavonoids—to emerge from the green shadow of summer. These compounds do not decay as fast as chlorophyll, so they shine through in yellows, oranges, and reds as the green fades. Another set of chemicals, anthocyanins, are associated with the storage of sugars and give the leaves of some species deep purple and red hues. As explained by the U.S. Forest Service, certain species of trees produce certain colors
