I grew up in Clovis New Mexico, studied at Eastern New Mexico University and University of Maine and I have spent most of my life either in New Mexico or on the coast of Maine for the past 30 years. As a child I often spent time either hunting arrowheads with my mother or bird hunting with my Grandpa in the desert of New Mexico where natures creativity influenced me powerfully. I was drafted into the armed services and 'Joined the Navy'. I've toured all over the world to such places as Viet Nam, Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan. While living in Spain for three years, I was able to visit places like France, Sweden, England, Morocco, Portugal, Tangier, Italy and Turkey. After getting out of the service I decided to live in Maine where the coast line and mountains inspired my art work. The coast of Maine has been a lifelong love of mine since being stationed in Winter Harbor Maine. The experiences of sea and shore, along with visiting Gotts Island , Swans Island and Mount Desert Island. The place I called home was on the backside of Mount Desert in a little fishing village of Bass Harbor. I have worked hard to incorporated this experience into my work countless times in all weather, seasons and circumstances and spending time on the ocean and visiting the many islands off the coast. The winters in Maine made me realize that they where to long and cold so I moved back to New Mexico and settled in Alamogordo New Mexico. Alamogordo is located in the Tularosa basin in southern New Mexico and is 68 miles north of El Paso, Texas, but I still return to Maine during the spring, summer and fall.
