I have been interested in drawing and painting from a very young age, as I took classes and tried different mediums, I was most pleased with the results of Acrylics. I love to create moods, with the use of dramatic light sources, and rich colors tastefully mixed. My approach to painting my images tends to be a lot of research, with tons of reference photos, to get my details right. I take a lot of hikes through the woods and nature to research and investigate the flora, fauna and biota. I also have access to a number of mounted animals that I use for reference. I feel compelled to look closely and analyze the fur/fin of an animal before I paint one, as well as photos I have taken. Working in a precise realistic style, I feel compelled to portray animals in their most noble character which requires adding a dimension beyond merely duplicating photos of animals in sometimes awkward compositions. The end result is a by-product of what I saw out on my travels, and the artistic vision of what is in my head.
