Hi, my name is Rebecca Fitchett - I sign my work R.L.Fitchett.
In the days when I was in school IQ testing was the norm. It was suggested that I not entertain the Arts. I did not. When I was injured in an industrial accident I did need something to do with myself. Tole painting classes were being offered, so I took it up. I did learn some about colour but the idea was like a paint by number proccess.
As a member of the Chapel Gallery in Bracebridge, I was working the Spring Show 3 yrs. ago, Pat Fairhead was doing a demonstration using water soluable paints. That was a god send for me because the tried and true oils were lethal for me.
Muskoka is a beautiful place to live. The landscapes and wild life abound. I don't have to go far from my back door to find something interesting to paint.
Being self taught some of my paintings have been reworks, mind you changing parts to keep the work interesting.
Works by myself are in The Severn River Inn in Severnbridge, Ontario. James and Wendy give me as a newer artist a place to display my work, for that I am very appreciative.
