Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, before moving to the west coast of Canada and calling Chemainus his home, Rick Ruppenthal has always been interested in photography. You will find him constantly engaged in a never-ending search for self-knowledge, applying that knowledge and experimenting to create the best possible images.
He tends to have an interest in the new and unusual and is gifted at expressing his feelings through his images. He has a relaxed approach to life which he has been able to work into his style that is balanced in structure and creativity.
25 years as a paramedic, in the service of others has brought him clarity and continues to define what he does today. As a free lance photographer, avid outdoors person and traveler, Rick has taken his camera below earth and above it, but not yet around it.
His works have been displayed at the Library and various local area restaurants. Several of his photos have been published in the local papers, tourist brochures and sold worldwide through Fine Art America.
