I've been painting and drawing since I was a child. I love drawing landscapes and seascapes using colored pencils. With each colored pencil painting, I challenge myself by experimenting with a new drawing technique. Sometimes the results are fantastic; other times ... well, let’s just say I have “learning experiences.”
Why Escape Artist? Because I believe that everyone needs a place that they can “escape” to. Every day we experience stress that wears us down. Some people cope with this stress by escaping into pleasant or relaxing worlds that they dream up. Others may need a little help. My colored pencil paintings provide a place for the viewer to mentally escape to…if only for a few minutes. You will see this escape theme throughout all of the creations my gallery. The common saying is that a “picture is worth a thousand words.” I believe that all art tells a story, and there are stories that go along with each of my creations. If you look into my artwork carefully, you might discover the story behind the creation.
What are “Colored Pencil Paintings?” I’m glad you asked. I use colored pencils to create each picture, so technically, my pieces would be considered “drawings.” However, colored pencils are wax-based, and I have an artistic technique that melts and blends the colors, resulting in a painting-like effect.
