Roger Calle was born in Havana, Cuba in 1954 and arrived in the USA in 1962. An honors graduate of the Newark School of Fine & Industrial Arts in 1976 and a student of the Famous Artist Schools at an early age. He has had numerous exhibitions throughout New Jersey and Florida over the past 35 years. His works has encompassed both the fine art and commercial arts with published works in magazines, paperback illustration and advertising design. His style has evolved into surrealism due to his realistic paintings in the world of comics and fantasy paperback illustration.
Roger is an avid oil painter who has worked in different mediums such as pencil, watercolors, acrylics, oils and clay sculpture. Drawing and design is the basis of his art. Line in varieties of thick & thins is what motivates his works and usually comes through in his finished paintings either boldly or subtle.
Exhibits include the Newark Museum, Newark Public Library, Branch Brook Library, Trenton Museum, Kean College, Botega Art Gallery, Gallery One, Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin American art, Museum of the Americas, Cuba Nostalgia Museum, Casa Elian Museum, Vanidades Gallery, Hortt 38 exhibit at the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of art, Art in the Tropics, Merrick Art Festival, MiArte Gallery, The Gallery at Metro and web based exhibits.
