'A man who works with his hands is a laborer. A man who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. A man who works with his hands and his head and his HEART is an ARTIST.'
I have been an artist for as long as I can remember, and professionally since 1980. I am a product of a family of talented artists and musicians, so at age 24, after exploring many different types of work from furniture moving to cake decorating, it seemed a natural progression to pursue as a career the work I always loved and excelled in.
For the most part, my paintings are rendered in oil. I have worked in all mediums preferring its workability and stability. My practice is to paint small works usually on a canvas mounted (by myself) board, and larger pieces on fine quality linen, stretched. I paint directly, in one session usually, from life, or photographic reference. Which reference, has often stood as art in itself, so recently, I have presented as on this site some of the photos I am especially pleased with.
My subject matter varies, but a common thread is often emphatic dramatic light and the figure whether it be a night scene, nude or romantic images of a couple caught up inthe passion of dance.
