I invite you to view my paintings in the hope that you will find within them a reminder of a quieter gentler world that reawakens within you a sense of calm. I paint a variety of subjects in an expressive but realistic style that reflects a spirituality that I find in all creation mirroring compassion for all -- whether it be in the eyes of a child, the weak and infirm, or the poor and the empty-handed. I am drawn especially to the sea -- the movement and rhythm of the waves, the interplay of color and light -- constantly changing -- at times tranquil and at other times majestically powerful -- like the very heartbeat and breath of God.
I grew up in Illinois on the banks of the Mississippi river and studied art at the University of Iowa. I have also studied art in museums in Paris, Amsterdam, Provence, and in Australia. I taught painting and drawing for several years before moving to Florida and have exhibited in Iowa, Missouri and Florida. I have been the winner of awards in juried art shows and my paintings hang in private collections in eight states.
