Ryan L Jones has been a self taught artist for most of his life. He was born and raised in Payson Utah. His art ability came to him at a very young age. During his elementary years he was given art lessons from Jim Norton were he was first introduced to oil painting. He later graduated high school as the KSL Visual Arts Sterling Scholar and is currently attending Utah Valley University for a BFA in studio art. He is also a graduate of the P.O.S.T. Police Academy and has worked as a police sketch artist and draftsman for many law enforcement agencies including: The Utah Highway Patrol, Payson City PD, the Utah County Attorneys Office, South Salt Lake and Salt Lake City PD. Ryan also enjoys serving his community by directing the Payson Onion Days Art Show held each year over labor day weekend at the Peteetneet Academy. He also directs the Onion Days Professional Exhibit. One of his most rewarding achievements is the design of the Payson City flag still in use today. However, Ryan’s main expertise and love is with oil painting. Religious paintings, portraiture, wildlife, and landscapes are some of his favorites to do. Ryan paints to inspire others. He believes that art can tell a thousand stories from a single glance, and that everyone comes away with his or her own story of what they saw.
