Sandra Lynn works in watercolors, pastels, and acrylics. “I have always loved art, focusing mostly on representational pieces. My images include flowers, rusty metal, and lots of bright colors. I love to paint things that bring people joy and are dear to my heart. I also love period pieces and find inspiration in works of the Masters such as Caravaggio and Rubens. I have an illustration background so my paintings are very tightly rendered. After trying to force myself to loosen up, I gave up. But then I realized tight isn't so bad after all. Trompe l'oeil can be really fun to do. I love the challenge of making things pop off the page. I love to experiment and learn new techniques”.
Sandra began working as a Technical Illustrator at the age of 19 and continued with her career for over 25 years. She has worked for several large aerospace companies, winning several STC awards (Society for Technical Communications) before quitting her career in 1999. Sandra is currently self employed and cares for her 92 year-old father.
Sandra Lynn also freelances in illustration, graphic and web design, as well as costume design. She does commissioned work, including large murals and portraits, working from photographs as reference. Large pieces are not a problem.
Sandra Lynn was a featured artist in the Modesto Bee in February of 2009.
