I fell in love with watercolor about thirty years ago. But as happens with so many people I put my painting aside to 'take care of business'. Business for me was raising three wonderful kids and moving around the United States with my husband. But now, the kids are grown and over the past few years I have found myself pulled back to the drawing board. I turned an empty bedroom into a studio. Immersed myself in classes. The classes began first at the local level. Learning as much as possible locally I then sought out artists nationally. I studied with Steve and Janet Rogers, both members of the American Watercolor Society. I studied art DVDs, and took hundreds of reference photos. I then began to paint. And began to LIKE my paintings. Now four years later I have a collection of paintings that are for sale in a gallery in Northern Michigan and also here on FAA. I have also continued to study, first a week long intensive workshop in Minnesota with Keiko Tanabe and just recently a plein air workshop in Spain also with Keiko Tanabe. I plan on studying with Alvaro Castagnet in New York the fall of 2013. After this I will return to Europe to study in Tuscany followed by Provence. I love every moment of what I do...whether it is in the studio, the gallery or abroad to places unknown to me.
I am a member of the Holland Area Arts Council. Holland Area Friends of Art and a sustaining member of the American Watercolor Society. I also teach classes and take commissions. I have been accepted into many juried shows and have recently won a first place in a juried competition. I have won awards for both my painting and photography. I have enjoyed sales locally, nationally and internationally. I hope that you are as blessed by my paintings as I have been painting them.
